Project Jonah is New Zealand’s dedicated marine mammal welfare charity and has been saving whales and protecting marine life since 1974. In celebration of their 50th anniversary, they launched the innovative Walkthrough Whale Programme, an engaging, educational resource designed to inspire a new generation of ocean advocates. The program features an inflatable, life-sized humpback whale with an immersive classroom space inside, where students will learn about the remarkable world of marine life. With a mission to make ocean conservation accessible and interactive, Project Jonah is thrilled to introduce this unforgettable experience to tamariki.
Starting in early 2025, the Walkthrough Whale will tour schools, offering a unique learning environment where students can discover the significance of whales in our marine ecosystems and our collective role in protecting them. The Bobby Stafford-Bush Foundation helped fund this programme transforming a long-held dream into reality, giving thousands of young people the chance to stand inside a whale, learn, and feel empowered to protect our oceans.
